APRIL 2, 2016–
HON recently held our 2nd Annual Spaghetti Dinner, with nearly 100 folks joining us for a community meal and conversation about our economic crisis and Baltimore’s movement for the human right to housing. HON members helped facilitate in-depth table discussions around the right to housing, registered people to vote, and shared next steps for how people could support the 20/20 Campaign and HON’s on-the-ground organizing efforts.
The event was supported in large part by Professor Daniel Pasciuti and his students from the class, “Homelessness, Vacants and the Right to Housing.” These amazing students helped organize many of the logistical components, including outreach during the weeks prior, discussions and logistics on the day-of, and are currently working on a set of demands for their own institution, Johns Hopkins, around equitable and affordable housing.
In all, the event was another great moment for us to come together and build our community. For many, this was their first HON meeting, and a number of these new members have continued to come and build with us in the weeks following.
